About Youth Guesthouse Network
In order to create a friendly traveling environment for international young explorers in Taiwan, the government has set up a Youth Guesthouse Network. The Network is a budget accommodation system that helps young travelers overcome the problem of finding decent but reasonably priced places to stay.
The Youth Guesthouse Network provides low cost, convenient, clean, safe and friendly budget accommodation in the major cities of Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung, and other popular travel destinations around Taiwan. 25 previously off-limits government owned facilities, such as Jingguang Hostels, Hero Houses, Teachers' Hostels, Workers’ Recreation Centers and Forest Recreation Areas, have joined the Network and opened their doors to international youth travelers at age of 15-30 with foreign passports and Youth Travel Cards.
Beds are available for NT$500 or less during weeknights (Sunday to Thursday). Moreover, the government has established a Youth Guesthouse Service Hotline, which offers detailed information and helps liaise between you and the accommodation facilities. It is advised to make the hostel reservation two weeks in advance.
